Heresy Era Iron hands - Contemptor dreads painted
Models are finally starting to reach the finish line - up today is the pair of Contemptor dreads!
Pretty happy with how the bases set off against the darkness of the models, definitely helps them pop a bit. also gives the overall model a little more much-needed color!
The first one has a magnetized right arm so I can swap out the lascannon for other weapons as needed, went with a running pose with this one as though he's charging into the action.
The second dread carries a pair of Kheres assault cannons, and with the release of the Massacre book he can also be used as a Mortis dread, which means he loses Fleet, but if he remains stationary he gains Skyfire and Interceptor. Nothing wrong with that!
Next up are some pics of the motor pool, 3/4ths of which I'm rather happy with, and 1/4 ended up being a bit of a tragedy...

The one on the left looks like he's actually crossing that finish line!
ReplyDeleteVery cool man.. I love see seeing Contemptors all painted up. nice work!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDamn you are too fast! They look great, I really dig the bright blue accent areas. Adds a nice "pop"
ReplyDeleteNice work on the dreads!
ReplyDeleteReally nice. Concur on the bases - a lot of your stuff is nice and blod, so 'natural' looking bases like that set it off perfectly. One day you need to do a group shot of all the models in your collection...
ReplyDeleteCracking work mate!
ReplyDeleteWish I could see these on person.
You shame me. Hopefully I'll get back into things this weekend as life has pounded me into the ground, but still, you shame me ;)
ReplyDeleteWell done, my friend!!
Skyfire & Interceptor ? That's handy, isn't it ?
ReplyDeleteAnd they look good as well. No just your high standard paint, but the posing too.
Bloody superb sir, absolutely beautiful and definitely look like they're captured "in motion". Excellent all round - as ever.
ReplyDelete@Da Masta Cheef: Hah! I ought to give him a little ribbon fluttering around his midsection!
ReplyDelete@Todd Sherman: Thanks man! I do love this kit!
@Zab: Cheers!
@The Eye of Error: Thanks! Pretty happy with the blue spot color as well. I may not be the best painter, but I can do table-top quality in a hurry! :)
@The Inner Geek: I appreciate it!
@Colonel Scipio: Cheers mate! Family photo to come this weekend!
@Dai: Let me know if you ever make it out to Colorado, we'll do some gaming! :)
@Miniature Tim: Hah! Lots of time spent at home saving money by not going out has allowed for a surprising amount of hobby output of late! Really looking forward to seeing what you do with the Salamanders!
@Zzzzzz: Hard to go wrong with that combo, for sure. Not only can it shoot down flyers, but a pair of Kheres with interceptor means that the opponents should think twice about deep striking or outflanking near it as well!
@Headologist: Thanks very much! Plenty more to come in short order!
Cheers, everyone!
Those are great, man! I especially love the poses you managed to achieve for those Contemptors!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work!
Great work! I like the blue, it is very striking. The bases do look great on them as well.
ReplyDeleteThese are beyond sexy. After putting three of these together, I get amazed when I see the dynamic poses people get out of them.
ReplyDelete@KrautScientist: Thanks very much! Or should I say, Danke! :)
ReplyDelete@Frothing Muppet: I appreciate the kind words!
@D'nyarak: Cheers!
@Chris Hadden: It is one of my favorite kits, you can just do so much with it, pose-wise!
Cheers, guys!
