I took the advice of several people and rooted around in the old Empire transfers that a friend gave me to find a rampant lion, and decided to add a smaller stylized "T" of the titan legions just to show the Knight household's connection with their larger cousins.
The next package from the fellow that sculpted the Knight Paladin arrived yesterday, which included a pair of Knight Pilot models, the original sculpts can be seen here at Big Daddy's Blog. Of course, it's back to blowing snow and sub freezing weather here, so they're not getting primered any time soon, more's the pity. I really need to track down some Gesso and give that a try for these cold winter months...
One more painting session and I think I'll be finished with Vultus Mors. No major changes from here though, minor cosmetic detailing and weathering is all that remains!
The Titan looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing the final finished product, although I think it looks great now.
ReplyDeleteI agree, looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks folks! It's 98% done, and was an absolute blast to paint. Of course, as is usually the case with a model I spend a lot of time painting, it'll no doubt be destroyed on turn 1 every game. Hah!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job, man, really. Whenever one of those resin Knights surface on eBay, I'm sorely tempted. I just don't play enough Apoc (or have the ready cash) to justify it.
ReplyDeleteMordian that looks fantastic! Where did you buy the titans from? I would love to get a couple for my traitor legions.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDelete@ #2501 - I'll agree that I definitely don't field the Knight in every game, I do play a fair number of 3000+ point games where a Knight or some other superheavy aren't so out of place. As far as cost goes, I'd sold some old models to help finance it which helped.
@ dnyarak - I got it off eBay from a guy in Monaco who has his own blog here: http://hearthguard.over-blog.com/ - It's in French, but he's quick to respond to questions in both French and English. Good guy, I've ordered a number of Knights and such from him and the packages always arrive swiftly and hassle-free!
I remember when the Knights first came out in WD, I've still got the issue. Back then, I wondered what they'd look like in 40k rather than Adaptus Titanicus.
ReplyDeleteNow I know! Cracking job mate.
Thanks Corbane! Of the two Knights I've acquired, I think this one captures the feel of the old Epic models more closely than the first one I'd painted. I've been discussing with the sculptor the possibility of other knight variants similar to the old Wardens and Lancers, much to my hobby fund's horror! :)
ReplyDeleteMordian7th: Where did you buy the Knight kit or did you build it?
