Just a quick hit today - I decided to take a little break from working on the knights and took advantage of a relatively warm day to primer the Spireguard and set to painting!
Fairly straightforward, though updated slightly from the test models paint scheme. The greatcoats are red with a bone-colored interior, and the trooper's trousers, gloves and epaulets are done in a blue-white. A dab of gold here and there, and all that remains are some final fine detail and the bases!
I'm just reading up on your Spireguard again and I see that you have basing-block. I looked again at this post and immediately thought, What about mud/ash with broken glass? The Spireguard participated in the defense of Prospero when Russ and his Wolves arrived, right? Anyway whatever you decide I'm sure it will look great. These guys look amazing; I love the mileage you get out of these bits.
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely superb!
ReplyDeleteThey are nice. Las cannon & Melta ? Is that fluftastic or are you anticipating Loganwing ?
ReplyDelete@CJ Kilbride: Good call! I am planing on going with a super-light sandstone/white on the fallen masonry to match the art of Tizca, but adding some broken glass is a great idea! There's several sections in A Thousand Sons which talk about all the windows being blown out and shattering. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@Col. Ackland: Cheers mate!
@Zzzzzz: Partial fluff, partial meta-gaming. In defense of Tizca they're primarily going to be going up against the wolves so I figured they ought to bring the heavy stuff. On the other hand, as there aren't (currently) any non-marine foes in the FW heresy gaming, I figured I'd better kit 'em out to take out tanks and terminators. :)
Cheers all!
Holy cow, that put a nice dent in them! They look great already :)
ReplyDeleteWow - these look amazing, matey: well done you!
ReplyDeleteAw man, those look amazing! Like a red version of the Emerald City guards uniform in Wizard of Oz! :)
ReplyDelete@Zab: Thanks man! Was surprised how quickly they painted up!
ReplyDelete@Admiral Drax: I appreciate it! Definitely been fun painting some actual, factual bright colors!
@Dai: Haha! Ignore the primordial annihilator behind the curtain! :)
Cheers, guys!
Great work, they look fantastic. I really enjoyed reading A Thousand Sons & Prospero Burns, so it's great seeing the Spireguard realised in miniature form!
ReplyDeleteThey look great, I wish you'd taken more pictures.
