A little Inq28 interlude today, I recently got a package from Wargame Exclusive miniatures which included a recently-released Inquisitor on a combat bike. I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to paint one up!
Rather cool sculpt, the bike is just brutal looking, and while the Inquisitor is improbably buxom as most of their models are, she's at least not totally risque as some of their more recent models have been. So much so that I'm not going to be buying them in fact - just not to my tastes when it comes to miniatures design.
If you're gonna have a tricked out ride, you may as well mount a plasma gun to it, right? Still coming to terms with the black-rimmed bases after a decade of painting them in reddish brown, but it's growing on me!
Along with the biker I also ordered up a selection of their 'combat cars' to use as scatter terrain, but mostly because I thought they too would be fun to paint!. It's good to have some little one-off models like this to paint in order to shake things up - I plan on using these as little palate (palette?) cleansers in between swaths of Thousand Sons over the next few months. I have to build and paint 2150 points between now and the end of August which should prove doable provided all the bits arrive in a timely manner. What could possibly go wrong?
As someone with a large collection of post apocalyptic cars and trucks I still want all of those lol, they're less ramshackle than the ones I make (which are mostly plasticard and spare bits glued onto die cast cars I got at the drug store). Would make decent limos for GS Cult
ReplyDeleteHow large are those cars? Are they big enough to be coven limos? Any chance you could post a GW mini beside them for scale? (maybe when painted)
ReplyDeleteVery suiting paint job on an awesome mini. Really need to try em out at some point. Looking forward to some paint on cars too.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool miniature.
ReplyDeleteAs for the rest of their range, I guess in the far future there is only . . . . . perfectly augmented breasts!
I have to admit I am finding it a bit tiresome.
Very nice. Lots of character to the bike and model and your paint job is great. Definately agree it is good to have palette cleanser models in between all the larger army projects, keeps the motivation to paint and hobby fresh and alive I find.
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha. I've bought two of those =I= cars (iCars ?).
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the iBike. That's so pretty.
Lookin' forward to seein' the 'scatter terrain'.
@Ian Logsdon: Haha, absolutely! I'm trying to figure out some way to work them into a game of some variety!
ReplyDelete@Ashley Stevens: They're pretty small, comparatively speaking I'd say they're more like two-person sports cars. I'll definitely snap some pics with a marine for scale, but I'd say they're rather small to be used as cult limos (they're maybe 2"x4" or so).
@Manus: Thanks very much!
@Riot Ville: Indeed, I mean to each their own, but personally I'd just feel embarrassed trying to play a game with what are frankly pornographic models. The more restrained sculpts they've done are rather cool, and I can abide a little cheesecake now and again but there's a limit...
@NafNaf: Cheers mate!
I appreciate the kind words, everyone!
Nice job on the bike man.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of complete cheesecake models at all, but the rest of their range is rather tasty. Have you ever thought of painting the exposed flesh bits as though they were wearing a body glove? A lot of the time in the books they say they are wearing them.
The bike looks good, I agree the rider would be better more realistically proportioned. Those limos look ace though, can't wait to see them finished!
ReplyDeleteOk thats one sexy looking bike...loving the paint job too!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a sweet bike. They hit it out of the grounds with the details and style. And you painted it up a treat too!
ReplyDeleteScatter terrain.... Need some flame effects then!
I love that model! Those Wargame Exclusive guys really know their stuff when it comes to units like these. Coupled with a modest selection of Raging Heroes girls, this could be a really beautiful army.
ReplyDeleteHi. Appreciate learning about these vehicles. But a big "if" is their scale. Can you post that photo of the Inquisitor's car with a GW model? I'd really like to know what I'm getting into before I spend my limited hobby money. Thanks!--ManofErebor
ReplyDelete@Rory Priest: Indeed - I have a couple of the more cheesecake-y models in the wings that I'm planning on going with the bodyglove look.
ReplyDelete@Col. Hertford: Thanks very much!
@Alpha Omega: Cheers man!
@Dai: Hah! Good call!
@#2501: Indeed, I've been rather pleased with all the models I've gotten from them recently. There's some of the line that's just a little too 'Porn-y' for me but 90% of their stuff is just awesome.
@Del Stover: They're not super large, more like two-seater sports cars scale-wise to the infantry. Posted up a couple pics with a couple of the cars next to the Genestealer Cult I've been working on
Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
