Rather pleased with how they've turned out, though I think I need to go back in and do all the pipes on the bases in a far brighter yellow and add hazard stripes. As they stand they're a bit too samey with the scabrous yellow on the trousers. What worked well on the Purestrain bases works slightly less so here...
The Aberrants got the same treatment, and need the same follow-on base treatment, but still I'm quite happy with 'em and am looking forward to getting the force painted enough to warrant a game with 'em!
Spent a little time going over the Rockgrinders and re-blacking in all of the bits intended to be metallic or rubber. Doing so is a bit tedious, but does help the models snap into focus! Really digging how they're coming along, and has me giving more and more thought towards using the plastic Mk.III marines from the recently-released Battle for Prospero box set to make some Imperial Fists to accompany the Custodes and Sisters of Silence. After the fun with this yellow I think it's a foregone conclusion that's what's going to happen!

Yes dude, I'm loving how dark the skin is on the Abberants too. Gotta pull my finger out and do my GSC stuff once I have my SoH finished next week, I bought two of the Overkill sets, then two more boxes each of the 1/2 Hybrids and the 3/4 Hybrids.
ReplyDeleteRate the Tonka yellow on the vehicles too, haha ;)
These all look excellent! Quite a force you are assembling! The three Goliath Rockgrinders looks so imposing! The hazard stripes look particularly nice.
ReplyDeleteMy constructive criticism would have been to repaint the yellow parts of the bases too, so glad you got in there first!
ReplyDeleteThese guys are looking amazing, so amazing in fact your work on the rockgrinders inspired me to plan out my own GSC force last night. Now to find some way of paying for the models...
Loving the ways these are coming out. I might have to pick up a brace of those trucks myself.
ReplyDeleteYeah mate, that choice of white for their "uniforms" really contrasts well with the blue-purple and yellow. Very much digging this scheme.
ReplyDeleteYou mention gaming with this army, does that mean, this will be one of the very few that doesn't immediately perish on the auction-block once painting has been completed?
It's like a plant hire yard.
ReplyDeleteOh Mord! I love what you are doing with this army! I wanted to do yellow rockgrinders too!! I am so going to follow your lead!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stuff mate!!!!
Batching 3 Goliaths at once! That's one hardcore batch. I think I'd die still trying to black all the metals in...
ReplyDelete@RED SCORPS: Thanks very much! Aye, the Overkill set is the perfect way to do the cult hordes, and using the boxes to build the specialists and leaders.
ReplyDelete@Eric Wier: Thanks man! They've been a blast to paint so far!
@Nick Thrower: Definitely looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
@#2501: Cheers bud!
@Dai: I appreciate it! I'm definitely going to play 'em a couple times, but they'll be up on the block not long after they're done. Gotta fund the next batch of Thousand Sons, after all! :)
@Zzzzzz: Haha!
@Col. Ackland: Thanks very much! The whole army has been a hoot thus far!
@Blazmo: The re-blacking was savagely tedious, but they've been coming on strong since then. Pics to follow!
Thanks for all the kind words, everyone!
