Heresy Era Thousand Sons - Heavy Support Squad Painted
Managed to get in a little hobby time over the past week, and put some paint on the heavy support squad I built a little while back!
I'm holding out for FW to make shoulder pads with the Thousand Sons symbol, which means at the moment they look a little dark overall - the bone color will brighten them up a bit.
Originally the missile launchers were all boltgun metal and gold, but at the last minute I went with bone white instead. As a little decoration I added a little curlicue as though the barrel is an hieroglyphic eye.
The models all have a little bit of a blue spot color on the eyes as well as the hoses on the backpacks. I'm thinking that perhaps a little bit of static grass on the bases might provide a bit more splash to them, thoughts?

The first thing that caught my eye was the barrel and the curlicue. I imagine that once you have the requisite shoulder pads, they will make an excellent balance.
ReplyDeleteThey look great! Maybe a few patches of dead grass here and there on the bases, you could add a bit to the spire guard ones to tie them together as well.
ReplyDeleteGood lord that's a lot of missile launchers!!
ReplyDeleteLike these as well, great stuff. Especially the little horus eye thingie is a cool touch.
ReplyDeleteReally great to see Heresy-era Thousand Sons, & I like the touch of the old-school style missile launchers. Very nicely painted!
ReplyDeleteKool.
ReplyDeleteSome kind of stripe or colour for the different warheads as extra spot colours ?
That curlicue is just inspired mate!
ReplyDelete@CJ Kilbride: Thanks very much!
ReplyDelete@Zab: Aye, good call on the dead/burned grass! My current mix is far too green, time to mix up a new batch - to the internet! :)
@Musings of a Smurf: Hah! There's no success like excess! :D
@Manus: Thanks mate!
@Pawn Cocktail: I appreciate it! I love the old RT-era throwbacks FW has been doing, my wallet is less excited. Hah!
@Zzzzzz: Good call!
@Admiral Drax: Cheers! It's a subtle touch on an unsubtle weapon. Hah!
Didn't even realise they were missing their shoulderpads until you mentioned it.....
ReplyDeleteThe white is better than just plain gold on the launchers, good choice.
And yes - grass.
