NOVA Open Charitable Foundation Army - Thallax ready to go!
Turns out the deadline for the models for the NOVA Charity army is sooner than expected, luckily I was near the finish line when I got the word!
Really dig the basing color scheme that was provided, definitely going to be revisiting the recipe again on some future project. The Secret Weapon bases that were provided were top notch as usual and really cool!
The recipe called for a verdigris brass which I hadn't really tried before, but I was eager to give it a shot. mixed up a little green and brown wash which worked reasonably well. Always a bit scary trying new things, but Marc put together a rather in-depth guide to his process. It's fun to break out of the usual recipe/technique rut, and I've really enjoyed that aspect of participating in the charity painting. Getting them boxed up and in the mail tomorrow to join their robotic brethren!
I'll post up the pics of the full armies and details on how to get in on the auction once the forces muster over the next few weeks!

Ironic that you are done already, like you are a machine o_O I like that subtle martian soil type look to the base. Dish on the details of how to do that pleeze?
ReplyDeleteYeah that due date caught me by surprise as well. My paints haven't even arrived yet!
ReplyDeleteWell done chief, they look well. Good on you for your part in a great charity effort.
ReplyDeleteThey look awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat will be one lucky winner!!!
Heh, I rather like the one holding the helmet!
ReplyDelete@Zab: Haha! Thanks man. The Bases were fairly straightforward - Heavy Dark Flesh drybrush (reddish brown), Orange Rust medium drybrush, then increasingly lighted passes of dwarf flesh and elf flesh. Ends up being a cool Mars-y color!
ReplyDelete@John Stiening: Aye, had a bit of a panic. As usual when photographing I noted something I missed - Forgot the Opus Machina on the chest plates. Gotta crack the box open when I get home, paint 'em and re-box. Doh!
@Rory Priest: Thanks very much! It's a fun thing to participate in!
@Riot: I appreciate it! The armies are open for anyone worldwide and you don't have to be present to win. In past years they've mailed armies to winners all over the planet. Definitely worthwhile getting in on!
@Da Masta Cheef: Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
They look great. The weathering mix works really well. I love the base models and they are my favorite robots(!?!).
ReplyDelete@Col. Hertford: Thanks very much! I love the Thallax models, definitely some of my favorites from the Mechanicum range as well.
