40k tech support - have you tried lighting incense?

Well, over the holiday I tried my hand at upgrading my old computer. Suffice it to say the end result was the necessity of purchasing a new computer. Argh.

I've finally managed to reestablish my noospheric connection and am working on getting a backlog of photos uploaded - I've not been idle on the hobby front however! Here's a little sneak peek:

Awwww yeah.

  4. I'm very curious what happened to your computer upgrade to necessitate a replacement.

    Was it one of those cascading upgrades? Get new video card...now need new psu...now not enough cpu power, get new cpu...now need more ram..might as well start over with new board...new computer bought!

  5. @Zab: All I can say is get an external hard drive, and back up everything (including some generic device drivers). What a pain in the butt!

    @CJ Kilbride: Hahah!

    @Aventine: Indeed - can't wait to get some paint on him!

    @Greg Hess: Pretty much exactly what happened. The old rig was a generation out of date for use with any recent hardware, which didn't become apparent until I was hip deep in replacement parts. Argh!

  6. My PC is also about 8 years old and ready for replacement.

    I do not relish this fact.

    Cyclops inbound it seems. :)

  7. @Dai: Make backups is my biggest suggestion, a terabyte external HDD is surprisingly inexpensive these days. Indeed, it's the big M himself!
