Assault squad Mekhata is done and ready to take to the field - not much to do on them from the last post other than finishing up the bases and doing a little clean up here and there. I attempted a little bit of OSL on the sergeant's wings, erring on the side of "less is more". ...Also known as "I only sort-of know what I'm doing". Hah!
The characters got some more work as well, though as a group they're not quiiiiite done. First up, the special edition Praetor - quite enjoyed painting up this model, and although he's not going to NOVA, I do plan on using him frequently in the future! Had to sneak in a cheeky little symbol of Tzeentch on his right-hand shield...
Apothecary Thothmes is coming along nicely - a little more work here and there is needed, however. It's only in the pics that I realized I missed out on his backpack's lamp, and all the various vials and beakers will need to get a gloss sealant pass to shine 'em up a bit.
The Sorcerer turned out reasonably well, I ended up using a selection of Fallout Hobbies fantastic "magic sigils" to spiff up his cloak which turned out fairly well. He's currently the third-string sorcerer in the force however. Definitely interested to see how FW handles the thoroughly psychic nature of the Thousand Sons - at the moment the default rules only allow for up to two psykers per army and they max out at L2. Not particularly inspiring, but I hold out hope!
At this point, all the models that I'm intending to take to NOVA are painted - next up is pulling them all out and figuring out the best configuration to pack them for the trip!
Those are fantastic. The Tartarous Preator in particular. That cape is amazing too! All round great job!
ReplyDeleteGo, go, magic cloak !
ReplyDeleteLovely stuff. Lets see what FW make of the Ksuns....
You're like a machine being able to get so many done in such quick order.
ReplyDeleteSolid :)
ReplyDeleteOhh a nice big post chock full of pictures. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everything is coming together nicely there for sure. Love the freehamd tiny symbol.
Damn they are looking good. Great job man :)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing this force man, you are doing awesome work with them and they are brilliantly themed. I can't wait to see how the rules are when they come in the next book, you'll be ready to go on day one!
ReplyDelete@Col Hertford: Thanks very much!
ReplyDelete@Zzzzzz: Haha! Indeed, looking forward to it!
@Dave Weston: Cheers, man!
@Zab: Thanks!
@Rory Priest: Haha! No pics, no post - that's my motto! :)
@NafNaf: I appreciate it!
@RED SCORPS: Thanks! Aye, December can't come soon enough!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone!
Love the magic sigils on the sorcerer's cloak. Always a pleasure seeing your armies come to life like this.
ReplyDeleteGreat work on all of them, that red looks really sharp. The green wings look a bit odd with your colors, but really makes him stand out
ReplyDeleteSterling efforts. Slight light effect on the wings works nicely.
ReplyDeleteThe cloak decals are pretty cool. Almost see this feller pull a rabbit out of his helmet. (That didn't sound right. Or at all comfortable.)
@#2501: Thanks! The fallout hobbies transfers really are a joy to work with.
ReplyDelete@Joe B: I totally agree - the one guy in the whole army with that effect is a little jarring. The intent is to replicate that effect for the other sorcerers and psychic shenanigans on some upcoming models, so hopefully it'll end up a bit more cohesive.
@Dai: Haha! It was a bit of an experiment on the third-string guy, now I can't un-see him saying "Behold, there's nothing hidden up my vambraces!" before casting any spells. :)
Cheers, everyone!
It's hard to hit on any one thing that others haven't already mentioned. I like the understated basing, and the subtle tufts of grass. Also always like to see freehand on tiny parts as well.
ReplyDeleteDamn those jet packs. I wish we could buy them separately!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely incredible work, really love the addition of the sigils on the cloak, really makes it stand out
ReplyDelete@Eater of Small Things: Thanks very much, man!
ReplyDelete@Greg Hess: Hah! Indeed, I too would buy 'em by the double handful.
@Kieran B: I appreciate it!
